Overview

Una asignatura pendiente de la comunidad científica actual es la de encontrar fórmulas imaginativas para acercar el trabajo realizado dentro de los laboratorios a la sociedad en general, de una manera comprensible para ésta. Los científicos deberían tener la voluntad de trasmitir a la sociedad conceptos científicos con precisión y, a su vez, conocer aquello que la sociedad espera del trabajo científico. El jurado del II Concurso de relatos científico-literarios "¿te atreves...?" estuvo compuesto por los siguientes miembros: César de Haro (Investigador Científico CSIC), Graziella Almendral (periodista especializada en divulgación científica), Antonio Talavera (Científico Titular CSIC), Mónica Fernández-Aceytuno (Bióloga y escritora especializada en divulgación ambiental) y Elena Feduchi (Editorial Hélice). Se decidió otorgar el premio al relato ganador: "Ritmos perdidos" (Jaime López de la Osa Sánchez), y se eligieron dos relatos finalistas: "Amor con Omega 3" (Carmen Patricia Pérez Matute) y "Noticia de un fermento hecho hombre" (Víctor Jiménez Cid). La editorial ha hecho una selección entre los relatos mejor valorados por cada miembro del jurado. Con estos ocho relatos edita este libro, que pretende ser una pequeña muestra representativa de los recibidos y de la consecución del propósito del concurso. Se abordan temas diversos, pero en todos ellos se trasluce un mensaje común: la pasión por la ciencia, la satisfacción íntima de ser protagonistas del avance del conocimiento. El deseado encuentro entre ciencia y sociedad reforzará la idea de que la ciencia resulta imprescindible para la sociedad y constituye una parte decisiva de nuestra cultura.
